I installed my office 2003 on a new Vista machine then I did the Vista file
transfer from XP and now outlook won't even open on the Vista machine. It say
the pst file is corrupted and to use scanpst.exe to correct the problem but,
this utility is not available in VISTA. So then uninstalled office 2003 and
delete all the files VISTA would let me touch, rebooted and reinstalled and
again the same thing. Any ideas oon how to get 2003 to work on vista as I am
not going to spend $600 to go to 2007 I wiould rather delete Vista and go
back to XP.

1. Install 2003 from your office outlook cd.
2. locate the pst you are currently using and copy it to vista
3. before opening outlook go to control panel, mail - make a new profile and
point it to the pst you copied to vista.

Okay on #3, I do not not see "mail" options on the Vista control panel, was I
supposed to look elsewhere for this part?

I think it's under user accounts or something like that - or switch to the
classic view to see it.

Hi,

You may try to copy the PST to a computer with Outlook 2003 installed,
and then use the scanpst.exe to scan and correct the problems on it.

You may also try our product Advanced Outlook Repair to repair your
PST file. It is a powerful tool to recover messages, folders and
other
objects from corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.
