Vista display breaks up

Hi.

I'm posting here out of desperation and in the faint hope someone has
seen this before!

I bought a new Dell XPS M1710 laptop for the wife loaded with Vista
Home Premium and Office 2007. It worked fine although getting to
grips with the new menu interfaces has been a steep learning curve.
However, at some stage a 'feature' has appeared that means when you
restore a minimised window or application the background (desktop
wallpaper) breaks up into large pixels. When the window is restored
the display corrects itself and everything goes back to normal. It's
very unsettling to watch. Has anyone seen this before?

This may have started after I loaded some software. The system was
delivered with McAffee, which I uninstalled to install Norton Internet
Protection 2007. Apple's iTunes was loaded next and then the new
Vista printer driver for OfficeJet 7410 from HP.

As soon as the display issue was seen I uninstalled iTunes and most of
the HP software. But this made no difference. I'll uninstall Norton
when I can get at the system but as its being used to complete a
University assignment that may be some way off.

Any other ideas anyone?

You have a problem with your graphics card.
Update the drivers to the latest version, and the problem will probably
be resolved.

Is the card an nVidia 7900 GS or the like? I have the same problem.
The latest drivers from Dell are dated 12/6/06
