Vista Defrag = Graphical and % frag, % complete display?

B

+Bob+

Is there any way to get Vista to get a graphical display of disk
defragmentation along with information about % fragmented and % done
as it proceeds as we had in earlier versions of Windows?

Or has MS decided that this is just too much information for us to
handle?

Nope.

Yep.

You could use Ubuntu that doesn't need to be defragmented.

But if you use Ubuntu your productivity will go down to ZERO because Ubuntu
is not compatable with Microsoft applications which you have if you have
Vista. So if you had a wild idea to use Ubuntu, you will be wasting all
your time.

Ubuntu is for geeks who want to play around with their computers.

It's a "progress bar", so it's more like that I wish to know the painter's
progress whenever I walk into the room, and if there is anything wrong if
the progress has been "stopped" for some time.

You and people who like to use this defense logic may try to educate
software writers around the world to abandon using progress bar and hardware
makers to stop using blinking light and beeping sound as they all serve
similar purposes for showing progress and warning something is going wrong.

Also, Vista is a GUI-based operating system and GUI stands for Graphic User
Interface.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You use Ubuntu. My opinion is correct in
this instance. Yours is ill informed.

Only in your mind.

You wish.

So tell me how Ubuntu would help this OP when he already has Vista and MS
Apps? All he wants to see is a graphical view of defrag.

This should be good.

He can either buy a third party defrag program or change OS. Both
alternatives are choice. I'm pro choice.

Any more questions?

So he only has one option. Stick with the OS he has and get a third party
defrag. The changing of the OS is completely off topic as usual

You would have done that if you know how to do it, I suppose.

I don't google for others and I don't give a shit about watching Vista
run defrag.
My Vista installs do it in the background, hidden...the default way, the
way I prefer.
