Vista Business + Media

I appears as though Vista Business is taking out ALL of the media
functionality...even that which is freely available as a download for XP.

Is it true that Windows Movie Maker and DVD Video Burning will be axed in
Vista Biz? Will these things be left out of the boxed experience, but
available as a download? If not, the people that use their own PCs for work
will be forced to by Ultimate or buy 3rd party software?

Windows MovieMaker, Movie Maker HD and DVD Maker is not a feature of Windows
Vista Business and Enterprise. You will find these multimedia and consumer
features in the Home Premium and Ultimate editions.

Windows MovieMaker is part of Business accordingy to the product guide. As
you say though, MovieMaker HD and DVD Maker are not. See

I think a review or blog or something I read must have mistaken the Business
for the "Business N" version. I appears as though the media capabilities
would be as follows:

1. Windows Photo Gallery is available in all Windows Vista versions, and
it's an excellent application that will meet the needs of most consumers.
2. Windows Media Player 11 is available in all Windows Vista versions,
except the so-called Home Basic N and Business N versions sold only in the
European Union.
3. As a premium consumer feature, Windows Media Center is available only in
Windows Vista Home Premium and Vista Ultimate.
4. WMM 6 is available in all Vista versions, but you must have Vista Home
Premium or Ultimate to use its HD capabilities.
5. Windows DVD Make is only available in Windows Vista Home Premium and
Ultimate.

These statements were taken from Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows and
can be found here:
http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/winvista_05g.asp

So VistaBiz will miss out on the DVD Maker. Also, for laptop users who
travel and want to use the MCE features or just like to use them at home
they will be forced to skip VistaBiz and go all the way to Vista Ultimate.
