Vista Boot problems

I just installed windows vista RC1, & the install went fine, then I restarted
to load xp & I noticed that the vista install isn't on the boot manager, I
installed it on a different partition but for some reason it won't show up.

can anyone help with this? i think it's fixable by using BCDedit but I can't
get it to run on XP, the command window opens then closes

Correct, it won't run but is not needed.

You have written By the install of XP the Nt losader to the bootsector.

You have to run from a cmd prompt as administartor from within XP:

x:\boot\bootsect /nt60 c:

Be sure you have the Vista DVD in the dvd drive and the X has to be replaced
by the letter from your DVD drive.

You should also be able to repair this from booting from the Vista DVD and
select repair from the setup screen.
