Dual boot issue - XP & Vista x64

yesterday I got fed up with the 30 second wait for windows to load the
defaul OS on my dual boot system so from within Vista I went to a system
menu and changed the dealy to 10 seconds. Today it failed to start (BCD
file error) so I followed instructions to insert the OS disk and do a
repair. Sure enought it said there was a problem with the boot file and
corrected it.

Problem now is that I can't access XP - it does not stop to offer me a
choice of sytems to load and if I go to the system menu to look at the boot
settings there is only one system (Vista) listed.

I tried using bcdedit from the command prompt but I get access denied
message.

How can i edit the BCD file to show both systems?

I jumped the gun here (after getting frustrated that bcdedit does not
work) - I found a useful free utility called easyBCD that does it all,
including making a backup which I guess I might need!
