I am trying to install vista beta 2 but after i type in my product key i get
the error message "The procedure entry point DecodePointer could not be
located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" I was wondering if anyone
could help me get past this error, I have the file on my computer located at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel32.dll . Also when the error message comes up, its
says that the product can not be registered, It may be becuase I tried to
install it on my computer, but It shut down because the power went out during
installation, so I had to reinstall xp to get around the problem I was
haveing with that, and now that message comes up. If it is because the
product key was already used where do I get a new one or how do I get past
it. thank you

It looks like a file corruption. This may be a problem with the dvd if you
downloaded Vista. It could be a bad download or the result of burning the
image to disc at too high a speed.

What edition of XP is now on your computer? What edition of Vista are you
trying to install? What are the specs of your computer?

You can install Vista by booting with the dvd. If you are installing Vista
x86 you should be able to install from the XP desktop no matter what edition
of XP you use. If you have a 64-bit capable machine and are installing
Vista x64 you must boot with the dvd if you are using XP x86 but may do it
either way if you are using XP x64.

You should not be installing Vista on the only volume on a computer you use
for your primary computer. If you have an available partition or available
drive you should install it there unless this is only a spare, test machine.
