Vista Beta 2 64-bit on laptop does not return from hibernation

I installed Windows Vista Beta 2 64-bit version on an eMachine M6809 laptop
(AMD Mobile Athlon 64 2.0GHz) with 1.25GB ram. Vista runs fine on the
laptop. However, after installing Vista on the laptop, I walked away from
the laptop for about two hours. When I reeturned, the laptop went in to
hibernation.

The laptop power button light was blinking (this is normal indication of
hibernation mode). I pressed the power button to bring Vista out of
hibernation mode and there was no video. I made sure the LCD did not go
dim. I made sure the brightness had been turned up all the way; moved the
mouse and clicked the mouse a few times without any video; and press the
power button to see if Vista would automatically shut down like Windows XP
does on the laptop and on response whatsoever. I finally had to hold down
the power button for about 10 seconds and the laptop shut off.

Anyone else experience this problem with Vista Beta 2 64-bit version?

Are you running A/V software? CA caused the same problem on my x86 desktop so
now I am using AVAST! and hibernation works fine in and out.

There is no A/V software. I only installed Vista Beta 2 64-bit version on
the laptop and no other software has been installed at this time.

Hitting return, clicking the mouse wakes up my computer from sleep, but I get
no video or any other response other than all the hardware spins up. I have
to hit the restart key, which makes it look like its booting from scratch,
but when Vista shows up on the screen it states resuming from sleep.
Seems somewhat strange to me, but it does it everytime.

Whenever the laptop goes in to hibernation or stand-by mode, the same
problem occurs. I installed the Vista 64-bit version of the ATI Radeon 9600
driver on ATI's web site and this made no difference.

Here is the article that describes the error that occurs in Vista 64-bit
version:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293078

but there is no hardware acceleration feature available on this laptop. I
presume there is no hardware acceleration on laptops, but I could be wrong.

This problem is an annoying one because I have to reboot the laptop to get
back in to Vista. I know I can adjust the power settings to prevent Vista
from going in to hibernation or standby mode, but I did not expect Vista to
have this wake up problem from hibernation or standby modes; because this
feature has been in Windows for years, but Vista is a different and new
operating system.

That is how I wake up XP on my laptop as well. It is more the latptop
hardware than Vista.
