Vista backup terminates with error 0x8007000E

I have Vista Home Premium just installed. When I start the backup program it
terminates after some seconds with error message 0x8007000E saying that not
enough memory is availably for the shadow copy. However, there are 158 GB of
225 GB available on the hard disk. The backup medium, an external hard disk,
also has about 150 GB of memory. My computer has 1 GB RAM. What is wrong?

Martin, can you email me the following information? Let me know if you have
questions about how to do this. My email address is correct minus "online."

1. A screenshot of your Disk Management screen showing disks and volumes.
2. Contents of %windir%\logs\windowsbackup\
3. Generate a log file using the instructions below and email it to me:

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Asr,
create a new key called LogFileSetting

Under LogFileSetting, create a new DWORD value called EnableLogging.
Right-click that value, click Modify, and then enter 00000001 (hexadecimal)
or 1 (decimal)

Under LogFileSetting, create a new String value called LogPathName.
Right-click that value, click Modify, and then enter C:\asr.log.

Next, reproduce the error. You should have a file called asr.log under c:\.

Thanks, Jill, for your support. I finally discovered that the problem does
not occur if I deactivate the anti-virus program on my computer. I am running
G-Data Internet Security 2007 which is supposed to be Vista-compatible.

I have just remarked that G DATA has published an update for Internet
Security 2007 which is free of charge for registered users. This update is
declared to be Vista-compatible and the memory error does not occur any more.

Here is the link (to the German page)

Yes, Martin, thank you for posting your update here. In the future I'll make
sure that customers reporting problems first check their AV software.
