Vista and XP Networking

Hello I have a desktop that has Vista Ultimate and a laptop that has XP Home
and I want to share the two, I can see the laptop from the Desktop but can
not access the Desktop from the laptop, is there a way to do this. I am
pretty familiar with this in an XP environment, but new to the vist
environment, I have set all of the parameters on both to share the HDD and
so forth. So any suggestions would be great.

Are both systems in the same workgroup? Set both systems to obtain IP
address automatically. Also, I notice I have issues accessing my Vista
machine from my XP desktop if a password is not set on the since one is on
my Vista laptop. Try doing that and do this too, Click Start > Network >
Network and Sharing Center > under Sharing and Discovery, ensure that
Network Discovery and File Sharing are enabled. You should also enable
Password Protected shaing.

For network issues in Vista you can also check out the following ng:
microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing
