Vista and SQL server 2005 problem

We have a PC with Windows Vista installed on it and are having
problems installing the Developer Edition of Sql Server 2005 on it.
The installation completes but some components will not install. We
have run the SS2005 Service pack 2 and tried reinstalling, but the SQL
Server Engine and the SQL Server Management Studio do not install.

Vista prompts with the incompatability message and suggests that we
get the V2 service pack, which we have. We have used an MSDN
subscription CD which is dated December 2005 for the version of Sql
Server 2005. We have downloaded the service pack 2 from microsoft.

Can you offer any advice please.

Many thanks

I use Vist Ultimate.
I installed SQL Server2005 Developer Edition + SP2 from MSDN Subscription
several times on Vista. No problem.

I've installed it with no problem. Could you be having firewall or UAC
issues?

Hi Norman,

Please could you let me know if you are using the most up to date
subscription pack and the date on the SQL disk that you have used.

Many thanks
Terry

The DVD is numbered as "Disc 3097.1 July 2006". I downloaded SP2. Also, I
disabled UAC of Vista.
