Vista and Office 2007

I just purchased a new HP computer with Vista installed on it. I bought a
new copy of Office Home and Student 2007. The computer replaces a computer
at home. I have a copy of Access 2003 - can I load that with this version of
Office? Should I load Access or Office first?

Hello RBC,

When I used to have multiple editions of Office or any of its components on
my work PC -- Office 97, 2000 and XP/2002 -- the "recommendation" from
Microsoft was to install the earlier versions first and work your way up.
Although this was recommended, I never had any problems doing reinstalls of
an earlier version.

The ONLY thing that is important is to install different versions of Office,
Access, etc., in different main directories right off the Program Files
directory.

I'm taking what you wrote to mean that you are downloading and installing
Office 2007 directly from Microsoft's site. If Office 2007 is the same as
all the other versions of Office, Word 2007's executable will be called
WINWORD.EXE. So if you use Windows Explorer to search for WINWORD.EXE, you
will be able to see what directory Office 2007 has been installed in.
(Presumably it will NOT be C:\Program Files\Office2003.)

Then, when you go to install Access 2003, just specify that the target
directory should be C:\Program Files\Office2003.

I use Office Ultimate 07 together with Frontpage 03 where FP was installed
one day later.

No Problems. They go together hand in hand.

Assure to check Windows Update, for SP3 for your installed Products from the
2003 Editions.
