since i've installed vista, it has gotten rid of all of my limewire songs,
and on my itunes i can't play any songs that i've purchased or downloaded.
on songs that i've purchased, it tells me that i am not authorized to and
asks for my password, which i put in and does nothing. also when i updated
my ipod, it took my movies and about 90% of my songs off of it. does anybody
have any suggestions? Thanks.

Great,
They finally figured out a way to stop people from using ITunes and IPods.
This is getting better.

The latest version of iTunes is compatible.

Either way its Apple's job to make sure their software works.

"works"... yes, but its NOT supported.
now go look in your event logs and search for "gear".

the gear driver is not supported in vista. so again... itunes does not work
with vista yet

Hi Troy,

My iTunes seems to work fine. In fact, I'm listening to it now.

And there was a message about GEAR, so deleted the driver and all is well.

Not supported is probably true, though.

Oh good, I'm glad that I wasn't the only person with this problem. I'm also
having trouble with my authorization, but since you said that updating your
iPod deleted your music off, then I will wait on that. I'm guessing we are
going to have to wait until Apple comes up with a new version of iTunes that
is compatible with Vista, and I hope they do it soon.

I had this same problem but I have found a bit of a work around for
it. Right click on the iTunes icon, and choose 'properties', then set
iTunes to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode. That will let you play
your purchased and downloaded music, as well as sync your iPod. You
will, however, notice poor performance on the 3D album art panel.

Updating the Ipod (Imusic which contains the software for the Ipod as well)
doesn't delete your music. I've done it many times--never seen that.
