I never consider it good to have multiple AVs on the same system and there
can be conflicts between the two when it comes to Security. One reporting
the Security Center is not turned or its not setup with it. So, I would
recommend removing Macfee first, then go ahead and install AVG. I am don't
think AVG includes AntiSpyware utility, but one already comes bundled with
Windows Vista called - Windows Defender.
Andre, turn off Defender; it is a nuisance, and slows the computer down.
For spyware; SpyBot Search & Destroy is the best.
Re: AVG. Unless they have changed the free version, it would only attempt to
clean infected files of viruses, etc.
It had a bad habit of NOT deleting!!
I have seen it in Safe Mode only able to clean 270 out of 395 viruses,
trojans, worms. Delete, NO!
I won't touch AVG for my customers; long live Avast!!!!
Well, I personally running Symantec Norton Corporate Edition 10.2 on Windows
Vista Ultimate x64 and it already includes a AntiSpyware that automatically
disabled Windows Defender.
I had problems with SAVCE 10.2 during the early days of Vista, how's it
working out for you now?
I'll probably uninstall avast! at work this weekend on my machine and give
it another go, but more likely when I upgrade all our client boxes to the
new Symantec Endpoint Protection (SAVCE 11).
