XP64 has a lot of software compatability issues. Well so does Vista
but might as well kept from having to go through all those pains again
when 64-bit memory addressing is critical and HAS to be addressed.
Its already an issue. I have no clue why they didn't make the 64-bit
version the standard one because of the memory issue. It was already
a pressing issue with XP.
Interesting question why they made a 32 bis version of Vista at
all. They could have put the entire effort in creating a
reliable 32 bit wrapper for 64 bit Vista.
But the reason why they didn't go that way is fairly
obvious---drivers.
