Hi,

My Business viata system is crawling when trying to access a disk
drive with over 1, 000, 00 files averaging size of 1 mg.

I know which program is trying to access these files(C pgm checking if
files exist in a dir), but I do know if it is a OS issue or hard disk
issue? I did chkdsk and defrag the drive, but no increase in access
speed.

Is there anything I can do to speed up disk access or fix the
problem(i.e. turrn off search indexing).

Did you leave the last "0" off? Does the drive have 1,000,000 files?
And... is the size of each 1 megabyte (mb)? You said the files are 1
milligram each. If you have a million files on the disk, I would
imagine that your machine would take a while to access them. Is the
disk drive the main drive on your computer or an external drive? What
kind of drive? How fast is your computer? How much random memory?
Those are things I would consider.
