VisionTek Xtasy 9600 256Mb AGP

ok question here
i just bought this card from compusa and was wondering if it was a good card
i was previously running a gigabyte 9200 non-pro at 8x agp and 128 mb ddr
my ut2k3 scores dropped from about 500 fps to 167 fps and i am needless to
say a lil pissed
the clock and memory is faster by about 100 mhz
i was wondering if i could mod this into a 9600 pro but was wondering what
all i would have to do
and also is there any easy and safe way to get that plain heatsink off of
the processor? because i have a fanned heatsink to put on there if i can get
it off

my system specs are 1280 mb or pc 2700
Athlon 2700+ on a Gigabyte GA-7VA
my system is scsi cuz ide is 2 slow for my needs
i have 2 segate cheetah 36 gig 15k ultra-320 drives on raid0

current card clock rate is core-324, memory-391

If you had a Radeon 9200 chipset, you were NOT getting 500FPS unless you
turned off every bit of graphics detail, and ran at 200x200 resolution.

9200's clock slower then a 9000 Pro. And a 9600 kicks them both to the curb.
