Hi,

I have freshly reinstalled my windows xp SP2 (french) computer with
office pro 2003 SP2 and Visio 2003 SP2 using my msdn subscription. The
installation process went smoothly. However, since then, i've lost the
ability to edit or open visio objects from powerpoint document. When i
select insert|object|visio drawing (french translation), it does not
work neither.
The following error message is displayed :
"server application, source file, or item can't be found..."

Strangely, when i use Word, it works perfectly.
If i copy/paste as a visio object a visio drawing into powerpoint, it
works ; however, if i need to edit or re-open the drawing, i've got the
same error message.
I do not use NortonAV or any antivirus (it is a fresh install... for
now).
It is rather annoying because i have a lot of powerpoint presentations
with visio objects that i cannot edit anymore.

Any ideas are welcome!

Christopher

You might try reregistering Visio.

Click Start, click Run and type
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio11\Visio.exe" /regserver
Here's information on the same error with other programs and PPT:
Can't edit Org Chart, Graph, Excel (error msg: "server application, source
file, or item can't be found")

Maybe something there will give you some ideas.

I don't know, then. You may have to bite the bullet and call Microsoft.
