VISATA -- Not for Me!!

Well I made the leap. Bought a new PC with Vista Home Premium.

Tried to install my MagiColor 2500W laser printer. Received a warning
that it was not Vista compatible with a link to the Konica website.
Clicked the link and IE7 quit working. Tried rebooting, still not
working.

Installed FireFox to get to the MS website to download IE7 to repair
IE7. Opps, no luck. Seems IE7 is integrated into Vista.

So, got out the PC recovery CD and began the loooonnnng reinstall
process. Gets all the way to the end and tells me my pc is not
compatible with this software so it restored my previous version of
the software!! And still IE7 does not work.

So went to Best Buy in search of XP Pro. You guessed it, they no
longer carry it!

So I now have this nice looking $1700 pc with a beautiful 22" wide
screen monitor that is taking up valuable real estate on my deskas it
holds down papers.

I am searching with my laptop on eBay for XP Pro. When I get my hands
on XP Pro and I can promise you I will NEVER fall for another trick
from MicroSoft.

I had no problem accessing the web site with Vista and IE7.

Honestly, a little foresight would have gone a long way here. You could have
easily
determined whether the printer was compatible with Vista B4 any money
exchanged
hands...this one lands in your lap.
July 4th weekend I built a new PC, installed Vista, which BTW was a breeze
and have had only one problem, it didn't come out of "sleep" one time.

Contact the manufacturer for warranty service.
Or return the computer and purchase one with the operating system of
your choice.
Windows XP computers are still available as well as Windows XP in the
retail locations I have seen lately, and one of them was Best Buy.

"tells me my pc is not compatible"
This is not a Windows Vista issue.
Assuming that was the restore process with the original media shipped
with the computer, that is a problem the OEM needs to deal with,
either bad media or bad hardware.
Verify the media is clean by using appropriate cleaners.
A call for warranty support/replacement/return may be in order.

I would contact the manufacturer of the computer. They need to deal with the
problems. Also you may find that if you installl XP on that computer that
they will not honor the warranty.

That would be solved by removing the current hard drive, putting in a
new one and installing XP on it. If the OP ever needs warranty work, he
simply puts the Vista hard drive back in and it will be just as groovy
as it was when he bought it.

Or, instead of replacing the HD, he could just create an image of the
factory HD config to DVD(s), restoring it at a later date if necessary.

it didn't come out of "sleep" one time.

So that's why you didn't have even one problem???

LOL!!!!

Vista has so many problems in a real life environment that I am suspecting
Microsoft wants to commit suicide with its vista-crap OS!!!

I don't deny there may be problems out there. What I don't understand is why
a lot of people refuse to concede that lots of Vista users (or is is Visata
users?) have had flawless deployments.
My experience has been pretty close to flawless and lots of other posters
here have said the same thing. Yet there are people like you who seem to
deny that fact.
Sure there are problems. If there weren't, MS wouldn't have to be doing
updates and planning service packs, the same as they did for all of the more
recent releases of Windows. I don't see what makes Vista any different from
earlier Windows versions in that respect.

That would also work
