Virust detected - couldn't delete

A w32.worm was detected in shared documents\all users-
\documents.

The infected file was Xi.exe. I could not delete the
file, told it was system file.

So I deleted it using DOS.

I don't know if this is a critical file. Should I
reinstall it from original XP Professional disc, or am I
okay.

I powered down and then ran a full system scan, which was
oksy.
