Viruses/worms

Bill Patterson

Hi,
How do I get Microsoft to take my email address off its
computers. I'm getting buried alive by worms coming from
MS Corporation Partner"
<partner.ecgjzhsvbj@newsletters_ms.com>, ... I've run
Norton on my computer and I don't have any viruses/worms
but every time I check my email I get a dozen email from
Microsoft Network Security Section, all kinds of patches,
fixes, debugs... There must be some way to get microsoft
to remove my email address off its computers. I'm a
disabled vet and need my computer to communicate with the
world.
Thanks in advance,
Bill Patterson

Someone needs to send microsoft a copy of Norton
Antivirus. :)

A vet being buried alive by worms? Now that's an interesting thought!

I suspect they're not coming from MS at all and didn't originate from them.
I think you are being bombarded by one of those outfits who claim to be
partners but are just ways of spreading viruses.

Usual rules apply: don't open any attachments unless you were expecting
them to be sent, keep your virus definitions bang up to date and do a Virus
scan on your system often.

HTH and good luck

I got the same problem too.

But I set my e-mail account that all e-mail from
@microsoft.com will deliver to my Inbox.
Which they did.
So it must came from Microsoft
There was an attachment too about 155KB.
Like I got tons of it every hours range from 144KB to
160KB.

Hy

Here is what I get from them:
This was delivered to my INBOX because all e-mail from
@microsoft.com to delivered to my inbox in in e-mail
option.

Look at the person who sent this... they have the domain
as technet.microsoft.com

I'm getting emails saying that they are getting hundreds
as well. I sure looks like a real Microsoft email, but
hundreds of them.... ;-) Thank heavens for Norton and my
ISP running a defange program I haven't crashed yet.
Thanks for writing folks.

Hy,
Outgoing mail addresses are easy to spoof.
The POP/SMTP system was developed at a time when security was not really an
issue.
Your mail *appears* to come from MS, but really, it doesn't.
The thing is to delete it. It's a trick,a scam, a con, a phoney etc.
On the other hand it's worrying how many people will trust what appears to
be genuine, because they do not know enough to realise it can't possibly be.
Unless....ya don't think Bill has finally had enough griping and complaining
about his fine software do you?
Nah, not possible.
P.S. For the truly paranoid, the last two lines are 'irony'. Look it up if
you have to.
All the best,
Chek

I just logged on to check my emails. I had no less than 65 eronious msgs.
Just delete them. Anytime I have to give my email address to someone I use
Yahoo.com address, there are hundreds in there.

The sender address appears to be Microsoft, but the real sender's IP address
can be seen with "File>Properties>Details". If you "whois" the address in
the "Received" header showing your ISP receiving the message, you will see
that it is not in Microsoft's network.

Dan (Still going in circles)

If you go to the Microsoft Web Site, you will find that they are aware
of this problem and make the statement that they do not send these
notices out. All updates are done through the "Windows Update".
I set mine to delete on all incoming.
