Viruses detected and not cleaned by Microsoft Live Security progra

I ran the beta virus detection and computer performance program from the
internet. I have Norton anti-virus and keep the definitions updated and scan
frequently. Nevertheless, the Microsoft program claimed it had found 19
viruses, 69 infected files and could not clean off 3 of the viruses out of 4
of the files. I can't figure out how to get Mircosoft to tell me what the
viruses are or where they are. I rescanned with Norton both from my own
software and from the internet, they do not find any viruses. Do I have a
problem or is the Microsoft program being fooled by some legitimate or
harmless file?

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

Don't you get it ? It's is a Beta !

It is also junk. The Microsoft AV web site falls well below the AV industry standards.
Alebit, it usually catches LESS infectors than the well know AV software vendors such as
Norton. The Web site will show the names of teh viruses and the files found to be infected
but there is no way of extracting that report from the web site.

The following tool is an effectibve too for scanning a computer for viruses in an "On
Demand" fashion and provided ACV scanners from; McAfee, Trend Micro, Sophos and Kaspersky
and none have to pre-exist on your PC to perform a scan.

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm
