You Have either BLASTER or MSBLAST. You have no firewall. You have no
antivirus installed. You have not gone to Windows Update and updated your
version of Windows. Until you correct your computer security practices,
install and use a firewall, Install, use and keep updated antivirus
software, and regularly check for critical patches, you will remain
vulnerable to attack and infection by Blaster, Sasser, and related worms.
Because you do not use a firewall, you have no antivirus, and you don't keep
your Windows updated, you are a threat to everyone else, because once your
machine is infected it looks for other machines to infect, thus you become a
vector for the spread of whatever worm/virus you get.

If you don't want to use a firewall, use antivirus software, and update your
version of windows, I suggest you turn your computer off, disconnect it from
all it's connections and place it in a closet, or better yet, in a dumpster.

Why are you blaming this poor sap? It is the fault of Microsoft
for designing an operating system that is so insecure out of the
box, that in its default state you can get infected within *six
seconds* of connecting to the Internet (the record for a Windows
XP infection recorded by the University of Alberta).

Don't believe me? Think I'm joking? Try reading this:

I blame him for taking no precautions whatsoever. I am not defending MS,
but you can close the vulnerabilities very easily...yet the OP chose not to.
And when one takes no precautions, one cannot place the blame on MS. The
blame is with the user for not updating, firewalling, and having antivirus.
His apathy is more to blame than MS. I have not been affected by any of the
variants of Blaster or Sasser, and I use the same "insecure" windows he
does.
