virus/worm

think i have infected my machine by opening an e mail
which i thought was about updates from microsoft. i had
recently been installing updates. now when i log on an
error box comes up saying "memory access violation in
module kernel32 at 6515:73686835 and when i try to go
into my antivirus prog. iget the same message but
4387:87738462.
I haven't a clue what to do can anyone help

Clue: Microsoft does not distribute updates or patches via e-mail. You
likely recently received and installed one of these faked support emails.
