Virus: Trojan WINTRIM.L attached to XP files?

Paul C.

My virus scanning program found this trojan attached to
the follwing files.

System Volume Info\_restore{0BF64E0B-BD42-451A-A7B8-
E18ADD7D0912}\RP875\A0073938.dll and
Windows/System32/IEAccess2.dll.

Should I leave the files "Quarantined" or can I delete
them?

That file is in the system restore folder. The way to remove it is to
turn off system restore. Right click my computer, properties, system
restore, turn off system restore on all drives. Then reboot, and turn
it back on. Note, you will loose all restore points. There is no way
to remove just one.

That is a restore point. The virus can do no harm there unless you
restore to the point containing it. So wait until Restore has made its
next - clean - point, or make one manually at
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
then use
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup, and
the button in its More Options to delete all but this most recent
restore point - the virus will go too
