I found the following folder on my hard drive, 3b16041babld5e6831c0a4ef. In
it is a text file, msxm13-KB927978-enu. I opened the text file and it is
about 20 pages of what looks like code. Any idea what this is or where it
came from?

There is another folder with a similar long nonsense name, but it doesn't
appear to have anything in it.

I'm running a wireless network thats passworded and encrypted and i'm
running spyware and virus programs. Should I be worried and if so what
should I do?

Where is the path of that Text File is it in:
C:\3b16041babld5e6831c0a4ef
And does this correct:
MSXML3.0-KB927978-enu
Or is it:
msxm13-KB927978-enu
If it as you wrote then it is fishy to me as Malwares and Viruses can Name
themselves any name?.
You should really get the latest version MSXML4.0 not version 3.0!.

Those folders are left over by Windows Update. The one you cite
is associated with the following security update.

MS06-071: Security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927978

You can safely delete both folders.

Good luck

My error, it's msxml4-KB927978-enu.

the file path is C:\3b16041bab1d5e6831c0a4ef

And what is
MSXML4.0?

There are no harm from this folder, what you see is the text for the
installation of the latest secuirty for MSXML4.0.
MSXML4.0 is:
is a Microsoft core services is a set of services that allow another
application to run on your computer and perform and act as a parser to some
XML codes for some games websites and applications running on your compute or
from CD/DVD.
Such application written in different languages (code) like Jscript,
Microsoft Visual Studio, XMl based applications also support other
application in other languages code.
Open Help and support on your computer and type in MSXML and you will get
more info about.

You can safely delete this folder only this not the folder for MSXML4.0
C:\3b16041bab1d5e6831c0a4ef delete this I think about 285 KB or more I an't
remember I did delete from my machine.
HTH.
