virus scanning computers in a network

can i virus scan the computers in a local network from one machine? i
would like advice on how to do it either from the server or any other
machine. i have five computers on a network and want to virus scan
without physically instally it on each machine.

You can do this if you have network-aware antivirus software, such as Trend
Micro Officescan, or Norton CE (not my favorite), etc etc etc.

With standalone antivirus software, each computer has to run its own scans.

Regardless, each computer must have its own locally installed antivirus
software, whether it's centrally managed or not.

I know a lot of people who use and like Norton CE. I personally will never
give another dime to Symantec, but that's just me.
