virus problem

Amanda

I am getting messages that I have a Trojan virus, and I
need to delete it. Norton Anti Virus detected it, and it
is unable to delete it because the area where the visus is
located is protected. How do I manually find this area
and delete it? My virus is located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\content.IE5\OP2FG5U7
\winpup32[1].exe

at the bottom the message "unable to repair this file" is
displayed.
I have looked for the file manually by going to my c drive
and then clicking on each file, but I cannot seem to find
the Local Settings file in the Administrator file. PLease
help if you can!!

Thanks!
Amanda

First, go to http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/index.html and see what info
they have about removing the particular virus.

Second, when not connected to the internet, start Internet Explorer, in
Tools | Internet Options, tell IE to Delete the temporary files and check
the box for "Delete all offline content". This should delete the
troublesome file.

Also you need to tell windows to show all files.
Open my computer and dbl click on your "C" drive,
Click on tools at the top and then click on folder options,
Click on the view tab and then look for the "hidden files
and folders section",
Make srue the "show hidden files and folders" button is
marked and not the "do not show hidden files and folders"
one,
then click apply and then OK,
close all open windows.

Next go to start, and search for files and folders,
type in the name of the file that is infected,
when windows finds the file and has stopped searching
click on it one time and then hit delete on your keyboard.

This should get rid of the file for you!!

If not you may have to change the attributes of the file
so you can delete it. I can help you with this too if U
need it.
