Virus leaves object on my taskbar?

I downloaded a video file using a link that a friend sent me and since
then everytime I boot up my notebook, I get an annoying clear
rectangular box sitting on my taskbar with no clickable link to do
anything, no right mouse click to find out what it is and have not
been able to determine what is running in my system information

running tasks. I have run avg antivirus, adaware and can not get rid

of this pesky object. Any suggestion on how to detect where it
originates from and how to remove it? It doesn't seem to have
corrupted anything on my system. Thanks for any help.
