virus in System Volume Information folder

My AVG 6.0 software ocasionally reports that a worm virus has been found in my System Volume Information folder, I believe it might be resident in a system restore archive file. If I run AVG to remove the virus it doesn't find it and reports a healthy computer. Even though set up as an administrator on XP Home I cannot get access to the System Volume Information folder to delete the folder

How can I get rid of this virus?

One method is to disable the system restore, re-start your PC and then
enable it again. (but you will lose all restore points)
You can also go to the C:\ drive properties>disk cleanup>more options and
remove all but the latest restore point.

Hope that helps

Greetings --

To clear viruses from the "System Volume Information," simply turn
off the System Restore feature (Start > All Programs > Accessories >
System Tools > System Restore, System Restore Settings), reboot, then
re-enable System Restore, and reboot one last time. This will delete
all of your Restore Points, including the corrupted one(s), and allow
you start with a clean slate.
