Virus in my notepad.exe - and now it's gone!

scott

AVG detected a virus in my notepad.exe, and said it
automattically healed it.

Now, NOTEPAD IS GONE! I can't open any of my notepad
files because notepad.exe is missing. Can I "reinstall"
notepad? microsoft.com doesn't address this issue, OR let
me redownload it anywhere.

If it's as simple as replacing notepad.exe with one from
another XP HOME computer, please somebody help me out!
Email it to (e-mail address removed)

THANKS SO MUCH

Here is how to restore NOTEPAD.EXE to your WinXP OS.

The following assumes the WinXP CDROM is in drive "D:".
Go to; Start --> Run

Type; expand d:\i386\notepad.ex_ c:\windows\notepad.exe
Hit the Enter key.

If you have a c:\i386 directory you can use the following command instead...

expand c:\i386\notepad.ex_ c:\windows\notepad.exe

{ you can copy & paste the above command lines }
