Virus Help Please

I realise I am going to seem like a real dummy here, but I am a little
confused about my virus program.

I am running AVG 7.0 Professional, and I am happy with it, and it seems to
be picking everything up fine, but I am a little confused as to what I do
once a virus has been detected.

Do I always try and heal it? Do I remove them from the virus vault? How do I
find out the location of the exact file and if I do find it, do I always
delete the infected file?

About 15 minutes ago, a virus was detected, I-Worm/Swen.A

I clicked on heal, and it said it healed successfully, and it is now in the
virus vault. What do I do with it? This virus come from an e-mail. One
posing as Microsoft, which we all know is a hoax and one from inet (Whatever
that is)
I didn't open these e-mails. Unfortunatly, when I open my e-mail program it
automatically opens the first e-mail listed (I am using Incredimail)

Any information would be really appreciated. I am just very concerned I am
going to be sending this virus to all the people in my address book, which
is why I would like to know if I get rid of it from the vault, or keep it
there where it is "Safe".

Thanks in advance to whoever helps me out.

instead of healing it I would say delete it.
A virus is a virus. You don't take chances. Mostly it should be located in
a hidden map - Local settings- . You only get access when you make windows
show all hidden files. That may be a whole lot of process and confusing to
you, so your short cut will simply be deleting the file if the AVG can do
it. Beter to disconnect from the internet. If it doesn't delete but puts it
in the vault delete it later from there.

You should of just had it delete it because it did not get a chance to
spread because AVG caught it. You can just delete it from the virus vault.
If you get a virus attachment and AVG detects it just delete it.

Definitely disable that automatic opening of the first message. If that
cannot be done, consider going to another email program, like Outlook
Express, which doesn't. If Incredimail is also your ISP, this may be a
problem. Just ONE infected message (The first one ?) will turn your fears
to reality.

Thanks Sammy.

I found the problem. It was the Swen worm. It is now deleted and the patch
installed.

Thanks a bunch :)

Does she get the virus just by opening the e-mail, and not opening the
attachment?

You have to open the attachment to get infected by swen.

Isn't there a potential with Swen to infect if you don't have all the IE/OE
patches installed, and the attachment automatically launches?

I'm not wanting to find that out, which is why I don't open the message,
period. Anyone else know ?
