Virus and winlog.exe

Norton AntiVirus discovered the W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen virus
in the Windows file C:|WINDOWS\system32\winlog.exe file.
Symantec have recommended deleting the file.
Is it OK to delete and does it have to be reloaded ?
If it needs reloaded, how do you do that ?
