virus alert

hi all,
while surfing the net my avg alerted me saying a virus had been detected
but before i could read the whole message a friend closed the window, so i
did a scan and nothing was detected. is it possible that something is sill
there and just went undetected by my avg (my antivirus software) if so, is
there anything i can do myself to locate and identify any possible virus.

There are anti virus News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.scripting.virus.discussion

alt.comp.anti-virus

If you performed an "On Demand" scan of the computer and that scan found nothing then AVG
flagged the infector but blocked you from being infected or saving the file carrying the
infector.
