Virtual Memory

i have a P4c800 motherboard with a 120 GB SATA HDD and 1
GB ram. winXP SP1 is on an 80 GB partition. when i run
games for my kids, the reported free virtual memory is a
negative number. some of these games are older. 4x4 evo 2
has this problem (and its not so old) i was thinking that
the OS was having a problem with the large HDD. some of
the games report 'low virtual memory' and others report
inadequate 'swap space'. there is more than 20 GB free.
any ideas?

Sounds like the games aren't finding exactly what they're looking for, since
Windows XP isn't the operating system they were written to be used on. You
can solved this in most cases by using Compatibility Mode. Details are in
