Virtual memory ram

Hi,
-A friend of mine told me i could speed up my computer by increasing the
volume of memory dedicated to virtual memory????? Is this true and are there
any dis advantages????- Would appreciate any advice...... cheers.

Probably not.

Windows XP manages virtual memory better than previous versions did.
Most users are advised to leave virtual memory settings alone.[1]

What might make a difference is (a) don't run other programs,
particularly startups that you aren't actually using, and (b) add
more _real_ memory -- especially if you've currently got less than
512 MB.

No.


and are there any dis advantages????-


The only disadvatnge of having more page file than you need is that it's
wasteful of disk space.
