Virtual memory! Help

Hi. I have a cd-rom from which I take TOEFL course. CD runs in the desktop
computer well, but in my notebook I have a problem in running it. I insert
the CD in the ROM then start the program from my computer by clicking the
item installed in the start->All programs->'programName', then I take an
message in a box titled "Director Player 6.0": The program requires at least
3MB of free virtual memory to run.

I am using windows XP, and I have 1024 MB RAM. What is the problem? I didn't
understand that it runs in the desktop computer but does not in laptop.
