virtual memory dangerously low--msconfig? how to do it

I have received dialog boxes that virtual memory is
dangerously low -- how do I shut down programs as in
selective startup or reset RAM?
 
Please ask the question in microsoft.public.win2000.genernal for better
support since this have nothing to do with Active Directory.
