Hello
I have read all the posts, articles, and done a bit of searching on this
topic but nothing so far has helped. I'm runnung XP Home SP2 with all
updates. Scan frequently for adware. A/V software upto date and frequent
scans. Have a 60 gig hard drive (30 gig free) and 512 of ram. I have set and
changed the min and max sizes of the page file, clicked and un clicked "let
system manage". Currently using custom size with 400mb min and 800 max page
file with 439 mb currently allocated, min alloweb2mb and recommended 439mb
Can someone reccomend a starting point for system managed as opposed to
custom and if custom, values to start with?

TIA

PC World's recommendation here are terrible. For much better information,
read this article by the late MVP, Alex Nichol: "Virtual Memory in Windows
XP" at http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm

Hey!
I have read this several times and don't really grasp it. Could you
suggest some settings to start with thayt may be better than what I have?

Thanks

First, other than it wasting a little hard drive space, it's not terrible to
just leave it alone and let Windows manage it.

But if you want to improve it, I would make the minimum around 400MB, and
the maximum around 4GB
