Hi guys,

my problem is that I would like to store powerpoint presentation as high
resolution bitmaps (BMP or JPG). Powerpoints export is just too bad. I am
looking for a printer driver printing to bitmap.

Thanks, Dieter.

FreePDF will create JPG or Tiff graphic files. BMPs would be HUGE!

Go to <http://freepdfxp.de/fpx732.htm>

Download and install GhostScript

Download and install FreePDF

Go to your Start menu and launch FreePDF (not Assistant or Join)

Go to Edit->Options

Click on Profiles

Choose New

Give it a name like "JPG Output" (or whatever you want)

Change the "output format" to JPEG

It defaults to 300 DPI but you can also set it to 600 or 1200

Choose "save"

Close the configuration window. You only have to do those steps once.

Now, go into PowerPoint (or any application) and choose "FreePDF" as
the printer.

Once the priting starts, you will get a dialogue asking what to do with
the output. Change the Profile to "JPG Output" and you can save the
output as JPG files. It will create a file for each page and add "-01"
"-02" etc to the end of each file.

Take a look here: http://www.pragnaan.com/paperlessprinter/

It installs as a printer. Just select JPG or BMP to create the appropriate
file.

Free for personal use.

From the above site :

"License key is issued to paid customers only. With the license key,
you can unlock the evaluation version of the product into a full
working product."

Sounds more like crippleware to me. Sounds like any worthwhile
functions are disabled unless one pays for it.

I couldn't see any feature comparison between the paid for and
crippled versions on the site.

Regards, John.

I've been using it for several years with all functions operating.
Nothing appears to be crippled. The website claims it's free for non-
comercial use. I've never needed a key.

If you want to export Microsoft Office files as PDFs, You can use open
them with OpenOffice.org and export from there. Works fine. I prefer to
use the beta version of Ooo 2; I think the PDF handling has been
improved compared to the stable release.
