This program, viewpoint media player, installed on my system without me even
knowing it. How can I prevent this from happening again? My gosh I've got
all kinds of protection from Norton to SpywareBlaster. What the heck do I
need to do to keep this stuff off of my hard drive? After I had uninstalled
it and erased all of the files, I went to their stupid website to see what
the heck they were all about, and just going to their website, the stupid
thing installed again. I didn't click on download file, anything like that,
just went to their website at viewpoint.com. I didn't put the www in front
of that so people wouldn't inadvertantly click on it and find it on their
system as well. Man this is frustrating......sheesh. Any comments
suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Did you install AIM instant messenger, Netscape 7.x (or anything to do with AOL owned software, other than AOL's browser)?

Viewpoint Media Player gets installed with AOL applications. You can
uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs.

I installed AOL 9.0 a while back, but didn't know anything about viewpoint.
In fact, if it hadn't have been for norton I wouldn't have picked up on the
program even being installed. It just so happens that it tried to get out on
the internet and norton stopped it and flashed me a message. Man, I suppose
that a person has to put up with it if it comes along with a subscription to
aol huh? I wonder if this program is actually needed for aol to run
properly? I guess I'll find out huh :) it has been uninstalled :)
thanks for the speedy reply everyone.
