viewing NIC properties kills explorer.exe

This is on a Dell PowerEdge 2550 - the box is running
Win2k SP4. When I try to view the NIC properties of any
NIC (there are two on-board, only one active) it kills
explorer.exe, writes a generic error to the event log -
the screen flashes briefly and the NIC folder closes.
Anyone have any experience with this?
