viewing images in an email

Is there a way to have an image (such as a jpeg) sent to me as an attachment
to an email automatically appear in the body of the email? I know I've seen
this before but can't figure out how it's done.

If the sender uses HTML and embeds the picture in the message, you'll see it
in the body. If they don't you won't.
