Viewing HTML 4 character entity references.

I used to be able to view HTML character entity references
(such as the mathematical symbol ∀) using IE6 on
Windows 98. I've recently installed Windows XP
Professional and now IE6 fails to display these characters.

Does anyone know why this might be?
 
Thanks for the hint. I've tried changing the encoding
settings, and I've tried saving an HTML document as UTF-8
and Unicode. IE still doesn't display the characters
properly. I'm wondering if there's some other support
file that I need installed.
