viewing footnotes in print layout

I have been using Word 2003 for a long time. In the Print Layout view I used
to be able to see my footnotes at the bottom of the page on screen. These
are no longer visible. I have to go to Normal view and click View Footnotes
and it comes up in another pane at the bottom of my screen. I want to be
able to see my footnotes in the Print Layout View. What has changed? I
recently downloaded the Windows 2007 compatibility tool and thought that
might have had something to do with it. I have removed the tool and still am
not able to see my footnotes.

Strange.

Do you see them footnotes in PrintPreview?

If not, maybe their style has become "hidden?"
