Viewing embedded pictures in OL2002

I

Ian

When I am sent a picture that has been embedded by the sender it
appears as an attachment rather than being embedded in the message
body. How do I get OL2002 to show the picture as embedded as
originally sent.

Ian.

Check whether the receiver is capable of receiving HTML formatted messages.

Well you can't do that yourself really. The receiver will have to check with
his/her ISP for that. You can test it though by sending him/her a HTML
formatted mail (add some colored text to it and use a different font) and
see whether it gets received in the way you've sent it.

Note that he/she might also be running an add-in or anti-virus/spam tool
that converts everything to Plain Text.

Roady - Thaks for the tips. I am actually the receiver as
well - it is my home PC where I am having all the
problems. I have sent an E-mail as you suggested and will
see if I can see the coloured text which will confirm if I
can recieve HTML.

I also have Symantec's Norton Internet security 2004
running as well - I see you think this may cause a
problem. Any suggestions to test this.?

Ah, well being both the sender and receiver makes it fast testing :-D

I'm not running NIS but there should be a feature to turn it all off right?
Start Outlook in safe mode to make sure all the possible NIS plugins are
disabled as well. If supported your message should arive in HTML then ;-)

Roady - as you will tell I am no expert. How do I start
Outlook in safe mode ?

On a related note I also have posted another problem today
which has not had any reply. With your expertise are you
able to assist or can you point me somewhere where I will
get a reply from someone.

Details below.

Thanks,

Ian

Posted 16th March 2004
When I start Outlook I get the following error box:

""MS Visual C++ - Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10
\OUTLOOK.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it
in an unusual way. Please contact the application's
support team for more information.""

The only option is OK which closes Outlook. If I
immediately reopen the program it works perfectly.

I believe the problem may be related to Norton
Internet Security 2004 which I have installed, however I
have seen no answer/suggestion to overcome this annoying
problem. Pls help.

Hi Ian,

You can start Outlook in safe mode by starting Outlook from the run command
with the /safe switch so it will look like;
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10\OUTLOOK.EXE" /safe
(check your path to Outlook.exe)

The error of your other post could even be related with this problem. Are
you running McAfee?

Roady - Thanks for the advice and pls see the workaround I
discovered to fix the Runtime error on my other post.

On an un-related note, this is the first time I have used
this sort of news group and I am curious to know if you
get paid by Microsoft to patrol the message boards and
offer solutions as you are an MVP or do yo udo it for the
love of Outlook ?

Ian.

Hi Ian,

No, I do not get paid by Microsoft for doing this. Just the love for Outlook
indeed. There are a lot of things you can do with it in combination with
Exchange, VB, SharePoint and lots of other forms of digital communication
and managing it. I just love working with this technology.

Because of this love and being around in the message boards I got recognized
as an MVP. For more info on the MVP program see;
