View worksheet tabs

I can't see the worksheet tabs at the bottom of the page. it almost seems if
the excel window is not fully maximized. I've tried everything I can think of
and can not get the tabs to display.
 
Tools -> Options -> View tab -> Sheet Tabs in the bottom right hand corner
needs to be checked.
 
Thanks but I tried that prior and are unable to view tabs....It seems that
the excel window (within the excel program) is not maximized. If that makes
any sence. Hope you can help.
