View -> Toolbars -> Checkmark by Address Bar, Address Bar Doesn't display

F

Fred Di Censo

I never had any issues with the Address Bar not
displaying UNTIL I installed HotBar.

I have since removed HotBar, but I now
cannot get the Address Bar to display.

The standard procedure of
View -> Toolbars -> Put a checkmark by Address Bar
does NOT cause the Address Bar to display.

What is the solution?

I am using MS Windows XP Professional
with MS Internet Explorer 6
on a Pentium 4 Alienware Area 51-M Mobile Laptop.

Fred,
Close all instances of IE except one
Right-click on the top Toolbar, uncheck: "Lock the Toolbars"
Place the cursor over the "Address" button and click (hold down)
It will change to a 4-way arrow, move or expand the Address Bar to desired
location
Right-click on the top Toolbar, check: "Lock the Toolbars"
Hold down the Ctrl key and close IE

Hi Fred,

Try this procedure and reset the toolbar setting from Registry

- Close all browser windows (Important)
- Open registry editor (start>run>regedit.exe)
- goto the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

There are 3 sub keys: Explorer, ShellBrowser, WebBrowser

In each of these sub-keys is the entry for ITBarLayout

For IE Toolbars: The WebBrowser Sub-key directly affects IE.
For Windows Explorer Toolbars: The Explorer Sub-key directly affects
Explorer.
The ShellBrowser sub-key may affect IE as well. Its effect on IE and Windows
Explorer is unknown at this time, so if the first option doesn't work,
delete the ITBarLayout value here as well.

Choose the relevant sub-key and right click where it says ITBarLayout and
select Delete.

The deleted value will automatically be recreated for you.

Automated fix available for dowbload from:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm

(OR)

Delete the Key "Toolbar"
Restart Windows. The toolbar configuration is not reset to defaults.

=======

Download IE Addressbar fix from here:
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg

Deletes the following registry key; Resets Toolbar, Addressbar positions to
defaults. Restores hidden/missing bars:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
