View pane - add date?

B

Beemer

When I'm viewing an email in the view pane there is no received date shown.
Can I add this field within the view pane. The inbox does show a date but
this column moves and the mail being previewed may be "off the screen£" and
its a pain to keep scrolling the inbox column just to find the reived date

regards,

Beemer

what version? If you have the header showing, you should see the date (along
with subject, from, to)- or hover the mouse over the item in the email
list - the date (and other info) displays in the popup.

Sorry Diane, its OL 2003. In my preview window I have a header whcih
shows

Subject
From
To
cc
----------------------------------------------------------------

no date is shown.

Hovering is only useful for me if the mail item is visible and therefore
highlighted in the list window. If I have say a hundred emails in the list I
would need to vertical scroll until I found the item shown in the preview
window. Hence I would prefer to see the date in the preview window.

regards,

Ian

No. You'll either need to hover or open the message. FWIW, 2007 adds the
date field.

Diane,

You said "or open the message". Yes this does then show the date but surely
this is such a fundamental part of an email that it should have been a
visible field in the preview of versions earlier than 2007?

Not in preview in Ol2003. I believe that is the only version that doesn't
show the date, but I haven't used the older versions in so long, I forget
for sure. :) You can either view it in the message list (since it's the
selected message, scrolling through the inbox to find the message shouldn't
be a big issue) or open it - or upgrade.
