View cell references

Can someone help me understand why is it that when I double
click in a cell that has a formula to see what the cell
references are, it moves to another cell but at times it
does show the difference cell references. Does this makes
sense ?

What happens on a double-click a formula depends in the Edit Directly in
Cell setting under Tools, Options, Edit.
